Sterling Vineyards

Sterling Vineyards' Mediterranean-style white stucco winery complex sits high on a hill surrounded by the rugged Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges. Shawback Design collaborated with Centric General Contractors to restore and renovate the interiors after the 2020 Glass Fire. During the three-year project, Sterling was closed. The team took their color cues from the blues and greiges of the Greek island of Mykonos, which inspired the compound's architecture. Streamlined furnishings further complement the Cycladic ambiance.

Along with its iconic buildings dating from the 1970s, Sterling Vineyards is the only winery in the world with aerial gondolas. The Glass Fire required a new tram system and support structures—thirteen new Doppelmayr cabins now ferry visitors to enjoy the spectacular views and wines.
