Butterfly House

Central to the design of this home is a feeling of emergence: on every side, the home opens up to sweeping views of San Francisco. The architecture is decidedly modern, the floor plan open, and expansive views available at every angle; the drama inherent in that idea of emergence, then, relies heavily on the interior. A natural materials palette is what makes the space livable and warm. The softness of the materials turns attention inward, allowing for, even in the midst of an expansive space surrounded by those views, a feeling of intimacy and for the drama made available by the contrast between the two.
